What is the NDIS?

The NDIS is a new way of providing individualised support and community links for people with permanent and significant disability, their families and carers. It enables people with a disability to achieve their goals and have funds to purchase the supports they decide is best meet their need.

As an insurance scheme, the NDIS takes a lifetime approach, investing in people with disability early to improve their outcomes later in life. It supports people with disability to build skills and capability so they can participate in the community and employment.
