VƯƠN CAO Young Carers Group

Extended Families Australia has a young carers group called “VƯƠN CAO”!

VƯƠN CAO (which means to grow in Vietnamese) is a Peer Support Group for youth (13-17 years of age) living in the west who are involved in caring for a sibling or other close family member who has a disability.  While the origins of the group started with the Vietnamese community, today it welcomes young carers from all cultural backgrounds.

The program is facilitated by fully screened, trained, and bilingual Facilitators with experience working in other Extended Families community inclusion programs.

VƯƠN CAO provides community outings, fun and friendship meet ups twice a month for 10-12 young carers living in the western metro region who may be helping their parents look after a younger or older sibling with a disability, or even a parent or grandparent with a disability.

We developed this program to give young carers a break, provide supported opportunities to try fun new things in the community and make new friends. VƯƠN CAO helps young carers to strengthen emotional resilience skills supporting them in their caring role.

We have a number of places available in VƯƠN CAO which is funded through a government grant.  The program is FREE to eligible young carers.

For further details, please see the Information Sheet and Brochure.
