Tham Gia School Holiday Program - Western Region
Tham Gia School Holiday Program (West) provides school holiday events for both large and smaller groups of primary and secondary aged children/youth of Vietnamese background living with a disability in the western metro region. The program offers supported opportunities for young people with various types of disabilities to experience locally based activities and to explore the communities in which they live.
Tham Gia commenced in December 2020 with funding through Information, Linkages and Capacity Building Grant Fund– an arm of the NDIS. Our Tham Gia events in the West are free! Extended Families in collaboration with Vietnamese Families with Special Needs covers the cost of group activities and provide snack foods and drinks for events through grant funding. On the odd occasion we host a special excursion event, families will need to cover the entrance fee. This will be stated on the invitation.
All Tham Gia events are aimed at building friendships, having fun, trying out new experiences and strengthening everyday skills that assist in feeling more connected with each other, our families, and the wider community.
All events are supported by a team of Extended Families’ Staff who are fully screened and experienced in working with children and youth with disabilities. One - two Vietnamese speaking staff participate in each event.
